Lyman Reserve, Plymouth

Description: This trail loops through the scenic pitch pine and scrub oak forests and out to beautiful Buttermilk Bay. This trail is packed earth with few areas of mild root growth. The trail starts with a small incline, and then remains level throughout. There are two small foot bridges that pass over Red Brook. Walkers will follow the trail out to Buttermilk Bay on to a small beach with views of the Bay and the Cape Cod Canal vertical lift railroad bridge.

Directions: From Route 25, get off at EXIT 3 (Route 6, Bourne) just north of the Bourne Bridge on the Cape Cod Canal . Bear right off ramp and take an immediate right onto Head of the Bay Road. There is a large brown sign marking Head of the Bay Road . Follow for approximately three miles around the eastern and northern shores of Buttermilk Bay. Parking lot entrance is about 250 feet beyond Packard Street on right.
