Houghton's Pond, Milton - Greyhound Planet Day
Description: Houghton's Pond is a spring-fed kettle hole pond formed by receding glaciers approximately 10,000 years ago. The Massachuseck Indians fished the pond and hunted the surrounding lands. From the colonial period through the late 1800's, several generations of the Houghton family farmed the area. The trail that surrounds the pond is an easy and enjoyable hike.
Our reserved site is Picnic Site 5.
Directions to Houghton’s Pond: Take Exit 3 off Rte. 93 (Houghton's Pond, Ponkapoag Trail exit). Follow signs to Houghton's Pond. Pass the Ball Fields/Picnic Sites sign and continue straight on Blue Hill River Road. The parking lot to our reserved Picnic Site #5, is on the right.
