Guidelines

•  Well-behaved dogs and their equally respectful human companions are welcome

•  Multiple dogs per person may join us, however, please bring only as many as you can safely handle

•  Dogs must be leashed AT ALL TIMES regardless of breed.  Have control of the leash at all times, this includes during rest breaks.

•  Leashes no longer than 6' are recommended to avoid tangling incidents

•  Do not use retractable leads or flexi-leads

•  Dogs must be current on rabies vaccinations

•  Please clean up after your dog – please respect other walkers, hikers and bikers by removing your pooch's waste

•  Walkers should wear appropriate footwear; open-toed shoes (e.g. flip-flops, sandals) may be unsafe and difficult to traverse in

•  Monitor your dogs condition – know their limits and use caution

•  If at anytime you feel that you or your dog needs a break, let a guide know

• If your dog is new to or  unsure in social situations, please let us know.  You may also  want to bring a red bandanna or muzzle as a precaution

•  Walkers participate at their own risk – TBH is not responsible for losses

•  Soliciting is prohibited.  TBH is a non-political organization

Disclaimer: Trail Bound Hounds is a group of people who like to meet and walk together. All of our trails are open to the public. If you join us, you do so at your own risk. The organizers assume no responsibility. The safety and health of you and your hound is your responsibility. The Trail Bound Hound guides will help, assist and share knowledge, but the welfare of your hound rests with you.

What should I bring?

Backpacks are great for carrying:

•  Water / snacks for you and your dog(s)
•  Waste Bags for picking up your doggies poop
•  Light jacket/ sweatshirt (you know New England weather)

**TBH guides carry firstaid kits, cellphones & 2-way  Radios**

Will walks ever be cancelled?

Weather conditions in which walks may be postponed or cancelled include heavy rain, hail, thunder, strong winds, extreme heat, extreme cold, snow, ice, etc. Keep an eye on the forecast and use your best judgement. When possible, TBH will post walk status on our home page, if you are unsure, contact us.

Is there a fee?

No. All of our walks are free. However, some state parks do charge a parking fee. If there is a parking fee, it will be noted in our trail descriptions.

How long are the walks?

Our walks usually last about 1 hour or so. The walks vary in mileage, depending on the topography and terrain of the trail. Most walks are between 1 and 3 miles long.

We've never trail walked before, can my hound handle it?

All of the trails we will walk are described in our weekly announcement.  We have 3 - 5 volunteers on every walk to keep the group together. If you or your hound needs a break, just let us know. If you feel your hound may not be ready to walk, join us by yourself. We may have a hound you can “borrow”, while you are walking, you can judge whether your hound can handle the walk.

Can anyone walk?

Yes! With or without a hound, anyone and all breeds are welcome. We love to have all dogs socialize with one another. Just keep in mind that while most greyhounds are comfortable with other breeds, some may not be. So it would be appropriate to ask a handler if their dog is comfortable with other dogs.

Can I bring a friend?

Yes! The more the merrier!
